AFCAT Study Material

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test and is also referred to as the Indian Air Force Exam. AFCAT is a national level competitive exam conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to select officers for all its branches, except for the medical and dental branches.

Eligibility of AFCAT Exams


Only Indian candidates can apply

Educational Qualification

For flying:

Candidates should have passed 10+2 with Maths and Physics with at least 60% marks in each subject and B.E./B.Tech. Degree from a recognised university.

For Ground Duty (Tech):

Candidates must have 4-year Degree qualification and have cleared Sections A and B Examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks.

For Ground Duty (Non-tech):

Candidates must have passed B.Com. with minimum 60% marks. For education posts, the candidates must have passed MBA/MCA or M.A./M.Sc. Degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations /International Studies/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/ Management /Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks and have scored minimum 60% marks in graduation.

Age Limit

For flying:

Minimum 20 years and Maximum 24 years on the date of applying for AFCAT

For Ground Duty (Tech & Non-tech):

Minimum 20 years and Maximum 26 years on the date of applying for AFCAT exam

Exam Pattern of GATE Exam

The exam pattern for SSC CPO Paper – 1 is given in the table:

  • The question paper will be available in English language only.
  • Duration of the exam will be of 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • The total number of questions asked in the exam will be 100.
  • Correct answer: +3 marks and Incorrect answer: – 1 mark.
  • No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.
