The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam every year in four levels for various posts. SSC CGL is an examination conducted to recruit staff to various posts in ministries, departments, and organisations of the Government of India. The Examination will be conducted in four tiers detail is given below. The detailed information about Tier I, II, III & IV eligibility, syllabus, exam pattern, etc. are given below.

Candidate must be a citizen of India

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university/institution. The educational qualifications vary according to the post for SSC CGL 2019 and is listed.

Age Limit

The minimum age limit is 18 years and maximum is 32 years. The age varies according to the post, the candidate has applied. The Government has also provided for Age relaxation for some categories.

Syllabus of SSC CGL Tier – III Exam

Tier-III of SSC CGL exam is a descriptive exam to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The mode of examination is offline and students are required to write essays, précis, application, letter etc. in this exam.

Syllabus of SSC CGL Tier – IV Exam

For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax),DEST Exam through SSC CGL exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate. The candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.

Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides are the three modules that are important for this exam and the commission demands a candidate to be proficient in it for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).

Exam Pattern of SSC CGL Exam

The Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam conducted annually by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) consists of four phases, where each phase needs to be cleared depending upon the requirement of different posts.
